What are Dry Cabinets
or Desiccant Desiccant Cabinets?
Electronic Desiccators also know as Desiccant Dry Cabinets or Dry Boxes, are air-tight automatic dehumidifying storage cabinets which maintain an internal environment of 1-50% RH. Desiccator Dry Cabinets are used to protect objects from moisture & humidity related damages such as mildew, fungus, mold, rust, oxidation, and warping.
Desiccant Dry Cabinets are ideally suited to protect and store Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Parts and Feeders, Moisture Sensitive Devices (MSD), Moisture Sensitive Materials, Semi-Manufactured Goods, Automated Production Parts, Quality Control Equipment, Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), Circuitry, Resistors, Chemicals, Powder Materials, Gold Contact Lead Wires, Solder, Solder Paste and other manufacturing related materials.
Based in Whitby, Ontario, all of our Desiccant Dry Cabinets are in-stock in our North American duty free warehouse.
Our Desiccant & Baking Cabinet Models
XC Series <5%RH Desiccant Cabinets
Our XC Series of Desiccant Cabinet are our most economical models and are specially designed for moisture sensitive packages and comply with the industry standard J-STD-033. The XC Low Humidity Desiccant Cabinets are plug and play, feature a rugged design and are available in six different sizes. All of our XC Series DesiccantCabinets come standard with an anti-static package, adjustable shelves, wheels, locking doors, decimal digital display, countdown calibration reminder.
F1 Series <1%RH
Ultra Low Humidity Desiccant Cabinets
The F1 Series of Ultra Low Humidity Desiccant Cabinets feature humidity ranges of 1% RH, exceeding the requirements of the IPC and Jedec J-STD-033 standards. These Desiccant Cabinets are specially designed to store moisture sensitive devices of all levels.
All F1 Desiccant Cabinets are supplied with Humidity Manager Software so that humidity and temperatures conditions inside the cabinets can be monitored and saved to the software, coloured graphs drawn and the data used for validating processes and showing compliance to standards. Cabinets are supplied with an anti-static package, adjustable shelves, wheels (except the F1-200 benchtop), locking doors, decimal digital display, countdown calibration reminder, and sensors with 2% accuracy.
T40W & T60W Desiccant Baking Cabinets
Our T40W and T60W Desiccant Baking Cabinets are designed to ensure that they maintains a stable <1% Relative Humidity. These baking cabinets can be used as a stand alone desiccant cabinet or used to bake the moisture out of your parts in a controlled 40℃ and 60℃ environment. It can be important in many cases to reverse the clock on components and bake them in order to remove moisture more quickly. We’ve seen a rise in sales at repair facilities of our Baking Dry Cabinets. The yields on Ball Grid Array (BGA) re-balling and rework goes up dramatically if you bake the component, prior to removal and rework.
Unlike baking at the traditional 125℃, baking at lower temperatures can lessen the risk of rapid moisture expansion that could damage the part. Also, dangerously, baking at higher temperatures accelerates the oxidation of the metals and makes the components less solder-able. Baking at lower temperature mitigates the oxidation problem and the part can be baked indefinitely at lower temperature. Perhaps for this reason IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033B dictates that you should only bake components or boards at 125 degrees or more twice in their life time, no more.
